An introduction to the self-paced module

This module is designed to introduce you to the TATA resource, and support you to unpack and understand the purpose, function and target audience for whom this resource was developed. You’ll also be provided with some of the materials needed to make your own TATA kit to help you get the programme running in your classroom.

This module is designed to frontload important programme information and prepare you for the face to face component of the Te Puna Manawa programme with your dedicated facilitator.

This online module was designed by the Kia Ata Mai team and presented by Anahera Akuhata, Robyn Hata-Gage and Rauhina Cooper.

  • You decide your own timetable

    Work through lessons at your own pace, at a time that suits you. Each session will take no more than 20 mins and includes short explanation videos and quizzes to test your developing knowledge of the resource.

  • Download your materials

    All materials required to create your own TATA kit, including the full TATA manual can be downloaded from within the module itself.

  • Improve engagement and progress

    Ākonga are supported by their kaiako or kaiāwhina to identify the sounds in the words being used, the order in which they appear in these words and then to match these letter sounds to their letter shapes.
